So my kiddos finished their comics today, marking the end of a two-week long author study on the Original Wimpy Kid himself. They loved it and had a great time learning about how Mr. Kinney got where he is today. I just wanted to share some pictures of the display that we created for this author study. On the left is our “Greg” poster. We made inferences about Greg based on the read-alouds that we did throughout the two weeks from Cabin Fever. In the middle on the top row, we created our own book covers using construction paper, cardboard, markers and sketches on notebook paper that we crumbled up and taped on the backing to make it look like the real covers. I love how they turned out! On the bottom rows in the middle are the kiddos comics. They are so darn cute! On the right hand side, we have a picture of Jeff, the “Do-It-Yourself Book” that my kiddos created by completing activities from the real Do-It-Yourself Book and then an enlarged version of the Jeff Kinney Crossword puzzle that we did. You can get a free copy of that here. That’s it! I also included some close-ups of the Do-It-Yourself Book. My kids are so proud of that. They love looking at their own book!!

Here are a few pics of the student-created book:

Hope you enjoy!
